19-year-old Matthew Chaney killed in Springfield shooting
The Hampden District Attorney’s Office has identified the victim of a shooting incident that occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday in Springfield.
19-year-old Matthew Chaney was fatally shot around 12:30 AM on Nursery Street.
Springfield police responded to a ShotSpotter activation in the area and discovered Chaney at the scene with life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Despite emergency medical efforts, Chaney succumbed to his injuries.
The Springfield Police homicide unit is actively investigating the incident and gathering further information.

One Suspect Released Without Charges in Connection to Officer Enrique Martinez’s Fatal Shooting
