One Dead, Another Injured Following Shooting and Barricade Incident in Woonsocket

WOONSOCKET, R.I. – A violent altercation on Main Street Tuesday night resulted in one man’s death and another being critically injured, according to Woonsocket Police.
Authorities reported that a 57-year-old man became involved in a heated confrontation with a 32-year-old man, which quickly escalated.
During the altercation, the older man opened fire, striking the younger man multiple times.
Following the shooting, the 57-year-old suspect retreated into an apartment, where he subsequently barricaded himself inside.
Law enforcement officers responded to the scene, attempting to de-escalate the situation.
However, before officers could intervene, the man fatally shot himself inside the residence.
Emergency responders transported him to Landmark Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
The 32-year-old victim was rushed to Rhode Island Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
At this time, authorities have not disclosed the circumstances that led to the altercation.
The incident remains under active investigation by Woonsocket Police, who are working to determine the motive behind the dispute.

BARTOW, FL — Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred at 120 Polk Street East in Bartow.
The incident resulted in three individuals sustaining gunshot wounds, including a Bartow Police Department (BPD) officer, a public safety aide (PSA) officer, and the suspect involved.
Emergency medical services were immediately requested at the scene to provide critical aid to all three gunshot victims.
The conditions of the injured individuals have not yet been released.
