Authorities in north Arkansas have confirmed that the man wanted in connection with a fatal domestic shooting in Bull Shoals was found deceased Monday afternoon in Baxter County.

According to law enforcement officials, 49-year-old Brooks Dean Due, of Briarcliff, was the primary suspect in the shooting death of his estranged wife, Susanne Due, which occurred earlier that morning.

The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office reported that Due’s body was discovered on U.S. Army Corps of Engineers property near Shoal Creek Trail, close to Norfork Lake, approximately 70 to 75 yards off the road.

His death is believed to be the result of suicide.

Sheriff John Montgomery of Baxter County said his office was notified early Monday morning by the Marion County Sheriffโ€™s Office that Due was a suspect in the deadly shooting and was possibly in the Baxter County area.

Deputies initiated a search at and around Dueโ€™s residence in Briarcliff.

Assistance was requested from multiple agencies, including the Arkansas State Police, which deployed a helicopter to aid in the aerial search.

A vehicle matching the description of Dueโ€™s โ€” a 2013 black Dodge Avenger with Arkansas Disabled license plate 305607 โ€” was located on Shoal Creek Trail shortly before 2:30 p.m.

The Arkansas Department of Correctionsโ€™ canine tracking team from the North Central Unit in Calico Rock was brought in to support ground efforts.

The team successfully located Dueโ€™s body just under an hour later. The Baxter County Coronerโ€™s Office took possession of the remains.

Earlier in the day, the Marion County Sheriffโ€™s Office, in conjunction with the Arkansas State Police and the Bull Shoals Police Department, began investigating the fatal shooting of Susanne Due at a residence in Bull Shoals.

Sheriff Gregg Alexander confirmed that arrest warrants had been issued for Brooks Due on charges of First-Degree Murder and Violation of a Protection Order.

Authorities had warned the public that Due was considered armed and dangerous, advising anyone who saw him or his vehicle to contact law enforcement immediately and not to approach him.

At the time of the alert, he was described as 6’1″, 265 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes, possibly wearing a light-colored shirt and hat, and either clean-shaven or with a trimmed beard.

The investigation remains active and is being coordinated between the Marion County Sheriffโ€™s Office, Arkansas State Police, Bull Shoals Police Department, and the Baxter County Sheriffโ€™s Office.

PHILADELPHIA โ€” A 16-year-old boy was fatally shot inside the bathroom of a Chipotle restaurant near Temple Universityโ€™s campus in North Philadelphia on Monday afternoon, police said, as students and staff returned for the first day of the Spring 2026 semester.

The shooting occurred at approximately 5:00 p.m. inside the Chipotle located in the 1100 block of West Montgomery Avenue, on the ground floor of The View at Montgomery apartment complex. The building is situated near Temple Universityโ€™s Student Center and TECH Center.

Police later identified the victim as Khyon Smith-Tate, a North Philadelphia resident. Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said Smith-Tate was found with a gunshot wound to the chest and was pronounced dead at 5:24 p.m.

Temple University President John Fry and Vice President for Public Safety and Chief of Police Jennifer Griffin issued a joint statement following the incident:
โ€œThe loss of life to gun violence is a profound tragedy, and there are no words that can make sense of it. Our thoughts are with the victimโ€™s family and loved ones.โ€

According to investigators, Smith-Tate and another minor entered the restaurant and requested access to the restroom. Chief Inspector Small said the shooting is believed to have occurred inside the bathroom.

Moments later, employees discovered Smith-Tate suffering from a gunshot wound. Police recovered one spent shell casing from a semiautomatic weapon inside the restroom.

Although the victimโ€™s last known address was approximately eight blocks from the scene, authorities have not indicated what brought him to the location or what led to the shooting.

At the time of the incident, the restaurant was crowded, and multiple individuals inside the business were detained briefly for questioning. However, police said they have not yet obtained any statements from witnesses who reported hearing a gunshot.

A person of interest was taken into custody several blocks from the scene shortly after the shooting, but Chief Inspector Small said that individualโ€™s involvement remains unclear.

As of Tuesday, police confirmed that no arrests have been made and no motive has been established.

Investigators believe Smith-Tate entered the restroom with another minor, though the whereabouts of that individual remain unknown.

Police are also seeking information about three possible suspects, described as teenagers carrying backpacks.

Chief Inspector Small noted that the area is equipped with numerous surveillance cameras, which detectives are reviewing as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities are asking anyone with information related to the incident to contact the Philadelphia Police Department.
