Shooting Reported Near Washington School in Greenville, Classroom Window Struck by Gunfire
GREENVILLE, MS – Authorities are investigating a shooting incident that occurred near Washington School, a private educational institution located at 1605 E. Reed Road in Greenville.
The incident prompted a temporary lockdown of the campus out of an abundance of caution.
According to initial reports, a bullet struck and shattered a classroom window during the incident.
Fortunately, no students or staff were injured.
The gunfire is believed to have originated near a group of nearby abandoned apartment buildings adjacent to the school property.
Greenville Police Department (GPD) officers responded swiftly to the scene and have since established a perimeter as they investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Multiple GPD units remain present as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have not yet released details about potential suspects or a motive for the shooting.
School officials acted quickly to secure students and staff, and the lockdown has since been lifted.

21-year-old Cam’ron Scott killed after shooting at Canaan Village Apartments in Crowley
Crowley, La. — A homicide investigation is underway following a fatal shooting at an apartment complex in Crowley, according to local authorities.
Officers with the Crowley Police Department responded on February 21 to reports of gunshots at the Canaan Village Apartments.
Upon arrival, officers located a 21-year-old man lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to the left side of his head.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene and later identified as Cam’ron Scott.
Investigators reported that witnesses at the scene identified Javon Davis as the individual responsible for the shooting.
During the course of the investigation, officers recovered a used handgun believed to be connected to the incident.
An arrest warrant has been issued for Davis on a charge of second-degree murder.
Authorities are actively searching for the suspect and are asking anyone with information regarding his whereabouts to contact the Crowley Police Department at 337-783-1234.
