Former President Joe Biden diagnosed with prostate cancer
In a statement released by his personal office on Sunday, former President Joe Biden has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has metastasized to his bones.
“Last week, President Joe Biden was evaluated after presenting with worsening urinary symptoms. A newly detected prostate nodule led to further testing,” the statement read. “On Friday, he was formally diagnosed with prostate cancer, classified as Gleason score 9 (Grade Group 5), indicating a high-grade, aggressive malignancy with evidence of metastasis to the bone.”
Despite the serious nature of the diagnosis, Biden’s physicians believe the cancer is hormone-sensitive, which allows for a range of potentially effective treatment options.
“While this represents a more aggressive form of the disease, the cancer appears to be hormone-sensitive, which allows for effective management,” the statement added.
President Biden and his family are currently consulting with his medical team to determine the most appropriate course of treatment.
Further updates on his condition and treatment plan are expected to be provided as they become available.
