GLENWOOD, IOWA — Authorities have identified the victims of Wednesday evening’s fatal shooting and house fire in Glenwood as Stevie Rockwell and her husband, Brandon Oman.
The incident, which occurred shortly before 8 p.m. at 409 North Grove Street, resulted in the deaths of Rockwell and Oman, while a third individual remains in critical condition.

The suspect, identified as Dennis Burrell, is believed to have shot the victims before setting his residence on fire, according to a neighbor’s statement to Channel 2 NOW.
During a late-night press conference, Glenwood Police Chief Eric Johansen confirmed that the Glenwood Police Department and Mills County Sheriff’s Office responded to an active shooter call at the residence.
Law enforcement officials quickly secured the area and apprehended a “person of interest” in connection with the case.
“This has been determined to be an isolated incident,” Chief Johansen stated. “There is no ongoing threat to the public. The investigation is active, and we are receiving assistance from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Mills County Sheriff’s Office.”

Chief Johansen praised the rapid response of law enforcement and emergency personnel, many of whom were attending a community event just blocks away when the incident occurred.
“It demonstrated the strength of collaboration among agencies,” Johansen said, noting that assistance came from the Iowa State Patrol and other local partners. “It was a group effort to contain this situation quickly and efficiently.”
Authorities plan to release additional details once investigators have fully processed the scene.
