Authorities have identified the teenager killed in a weekend shooting at a Birmingham apartment complex.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed the victim as 16-year-old George Camarius Daniel, a junior at Huffman High School.

The incident occurred on Saturday afternoon, when officers from Birmingham Police Department’s East Precinct were dispatched shortly after 4 p.m. to the 1000 block of Huffman Road in response to a report of a traffic crash.

Upon arrival, officers discovered Daniel unresponsive outside of a vehicle.

Birmingham Fire and Rescue Service pronounced him deceased at the scene at approximately 4:30 p.m.

A second teenage male was also located at the scene suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound.

He was transported to UAB Hospital for treatment.

According to Officer De’Rell Freeman, preliminary findings suggest that multiple individuals had gathered at the location for reasons that remain under investigation, and gunfire was exchanged.

The motive behind the shooting has not yet been determined.

The department’s Special Operations Bureau has taken one suspect into custody and detained two additional individuals for questioning.

At this time, no formal charges have been announced.

Daniel’s death marks the 53rd homicide in Birmingham in 2025.

St. Louis, MO — Authorities have arrested and charged 25-year-old Adrian Scott in connection with a July incident that sparked a Bomb and Arson investigation after a video surfaced on social media showing a man deliberately throwing fireworks at people and property.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, Scott was taken into custody two days ago following an extensive investigation by detectives assigned to the department’s Bomb and Arson Unit.

He now faces one count of Promoting Civil Disorder and one count of Armed Criminal Action, both felony charges.

Investigators say the viral video captured Scott recklessly igniting and throwing explosive fireworks in a public area, endangering bystanders and causing property damage.

The footage prompted widespread concern and led to the official investigation.

Following his arrest, Scott was booked into custody and is awaiting further court proceedings.

Authorities emphasized that such reckless and dangerous behavior will be met with serious legal consequences, noting that the charges reflect the severity of the offense and the potential harm caused to the public.
