1 dead, 6 injured after shooting at Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino in Eagle Pass
EAGLE PASS, Texas — Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting that occurred just after midnight Sunday at the Kickapoo Lucky Eagle Casino in Eagle Pass.
A confidential law enforcement source confirmed that one person was pronounced dead and six others were injured as of 12:45 a.m.
At least three victims in critical condition were expected to be airlifted to a San Antonio hospital for advanced treatment.
Preliminary reports indicate the incident may have been a drive-by shooting.
Witnesses told investigators that the shots were fired from a black Nissan pickup truck, which sped away immediately after the gunfire erupted in the casino’s parking lot.
A possible suspect description was circulated to law enforcement: a man wearing a black hat, jeans, and a camouflage shirt.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the shooter is still at large.
Local police, Tribal Police, and federal agencies—including the FBI—responded quickly to the scene.
Images posted on social media shortly after midnight showed a heavy law enforcement presence in and around the casino complex.
The Eagle Pass Police Department confirmed at 12:45 a.m. that it was assisting Tribal Police with what it described as an “active investigation”, urging the public to avoid the area until the situation was under control.
Maverick County Judge Ramsey English Cantu confirmed the preliminary casualty figures, citing updates he received directly from the sheriff’s office.
Eagle Pass Mayor Aaron Valdez released a statement on Facebook, saying he was “deeply saddened by the tragic events” and expressing condolences to the victims and their families.
“I want to assure the people of Eagle Pass that our city is in close coordination with Tribal Police, EPPD, and other law enforcement agencies to support their investigation, maintain security, and ensure those responsible are found and brought to justice,” Valdez wrote.
The FBI and local authorities are actively searching the Eagle Pass area, including nearby motels and restaurants, for any trace of the suspects.
The motive for the shooting remains unclear, and it is not yet known what led to the gunfire outside the casino.
Officials emphasized that the investigation is in its early stages and that additional updates will be released as more information becomes available.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Eagle Pass Police Department or Tribal Police immediately.

Suspect killed in officer-involved shooting at Cedar Creek Marina in Mt. Juliet
MT. JULIET, Tenn. — Authorities have identified two victims killed during an active shooter incident at Cedar Creek Marina in Mt. Juliet late Friday night.
The suspect, identified as Gary Haley, a convicted felon with an extensive criminal history, is deceased following an officer-involved shooting, officials confirmed.
Mount Juliet Police officers were dispatched at approximately 9:30 p.m. Friday to the Cedar Creek Marina, located in the 9000 block of Saundersville Road, after receiving reports of a man threatening another individual on the docks.
Due to the active shooter report, a shelter-in-place order was issued for the surrounding area as a precaution.
Upon arrival, officers located an adult male suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was later identified as Robby Brogdon, who was transported to a local hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Despite life-saving efforts, Brogdon later succumbed to his injuries.
Investigators determined that the suspected shooter had retreated to a boat within the marina and had barricaded himself inside.
The standoff continued for several hours as officers secured the scene and attempted to resolve the situation safely.
At approximately 1:00 a.m. Saturday, the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) reported that the suspect engaged responding officers and fired shots at them under circumstances that remain under investigation. Officers returned fire.
The suspect, Gary Haley, was later found deceased aboard the vessel.
During the course of the response, officers also discovered a second adult male victim, Nathan Jones, who had been shot by the suspect.
Jones was pronounced dead at the scene.
No law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation has assumed responsibility for the investigation, which includes a homicide, an attempted homicide, and an officer-involved shooting.
TBI agents are actively conducting interviews, collecting evidence, and working to establish a comprehensive timeline of events.
Upon completion of the investigation, findings will be submitted to 15th Judicial District Attorney General Jason Lawson for review.
Authorities stated that additional information will be released as it becomes available.
