Two Teenagers Killed, One Man Wounded in Triple Shooting in Auburn Gresham
CHICAGO — Chicago police are investigating a triple shooting that left two teenagers dead and one man wounded early Wednesday morning in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood on the city’s South Side.
Authorities said officers responded to reports of gunfire shortly after 8:00 a.m. in the 8100 block of South Marshfield Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a grisly scene inside a multi-unit residential building.
According to police, a 16-year-old boy was found unresponsive on a second-floor back porch with multiple gunshot wounds to the head.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Inside the building, officers located another victim — a 17-year-old boy — lying in a hallway with gunshot wounds to the head and chest. He was also pronounced dead on the scene.
While searching the residence, officers found a 21-year-old man hiding under a bed with a gunshot wound to the arm.
He was transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where he was listed in fair condition. A 13-year-old boy was also located inside the apartment but was unharmed.
Detectives said evidence of gunfire, including multiple shell casings and blood, was found throughout the building.
Witnesses told police they saw three men fleeing the area immediately after the shooting. One neighbor reported hearing gunfire between 4:00 and 5:00 a.m., describing how the noise prompted her to gather her children and pray until it stopped.
The Chicago Fire Department responded to assist in the rescue and medical transport.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identities of the deceased pending notification of their families.
No suspects are currently in custody. Chicago police’s Area Two detectives are leading the investigation.
