Suspect in Enid Officer-Involved Shooting at Integris Health Hospital Identified as Dedrick Bloss
ENID, Okla. — Authorities have identified the suspect involved in Sunday night’s officer-involved shooting at Integris Health Enid Hospital as 46-year-old Dedrick Bloss.
The incident, which left a hospital security officer dead and ended with the suspect being fatally shot by police, remains under investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI).

According to OSBI, the events began shortly before 11:00 p.m. on August 17, 2025, when Enid Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance call near East Walnut Avenue and North 12th Street. While on scene, officers identified Bloss as the suspect.
A short time later, officers located his vehicle parked outside Integris Health Enid Hospital.
As officers attempted to make contact, Bloss fired shots toward them before entering the hospital.
Once inside, Bloss discharged multiple rounds, striking 72-year-old hospital public safety officer J.W. “Jim” Bode.

Despite emergency efforts, Bode succumbed to his injuries.
The hospital later released a statement on social media honoring Bode for his service, describing him as a dedicated security professional who gave his life protecting others.
Enid police officers then confronted Bloss inside the facility. An exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in Bloss being fatally shot.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officials confirmed that no patients, medical staff, or law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.
