Suspect in Enid Officer-Involved Shooting at Integris Health Hospital Identified as Dedrick Bloss

ENID, Okla. — Authorities have identified the suspect involved in Sunday night’s officer-involved shooting at Integris Health Enid Hospital as 46-year-old Dedrick Bloss.

The incident, which left a hospital security officer dead and ended with the suspect being fatally shot by police, remains under investigation by the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI).

According to OSBI, the events began shortly before 11:00 p.m. on August 17, 2025, when Enid Police Department officers responded to a domestic disturbance call near East Walnut Avenue and North 12th Street. While on scene, officers identified Bloss as the suspect.

A short time later, officers located his vehicle parked outside Integris Health Enid Hospital.

As officers attempted to make contact, Bloss fired shots toward them before entering the hospital.

Once inside, Bloss discharged multiple rounds, striking 72-year-old hospital public safety officer J.W. “Jim” Bode.

Despite emergency efforts, Bode succumbed to his injuries.

The hospital later released a statement on social media honoring Bode for his service, describing him as a dedicated security professional who gave his life protecting others.

Enid police officers then confronted Bloss inside the facility. An exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in Bloss being fatally shot.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Officials confirmed that no patients, medical staff, or law enforcement officers were injured during the incident.

The hospital was secured, and authorities stressed there was no ongoing threat to the public.

The OSBI continues to lead the investigation, and no further details have been released.

Authorities have identified the man shot and killed Friday afternoon in a parking lot outside a Little Caesars restaurant in Chicago’s Little Village neighborhood.

The victim has been named as Stevens Jeffrey, 29, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The shooting occurred in the 2600 block of West Cermak Road near Rockwell Street at approximately 1:10 p.m., according to the Chicago Police Department (CPD).

Preliminary reports indicate that Jeffrey was sitting in his vehicle when he was approached by an unknown vehicle.

An armed individual exited that vehicle and opened fire, striking Jeffrey multiple times in the face and body.

Emergency responders arrived on the scene, where Jeffrey was pronounced dead. He was discovered inside his vehicle with his two young children, ages 4 and 6, who were unharmed.

Both children were transported to Stroger Hospital for precautionary evaluation.

The shooting took place in the parking lot of a Little Caesars restaurant, where investigators recovered multiple shell casings and placed numerous evidence markers on the ground.

As of Friday evening, no suspects are in custody, and detectives from the CPD Area Four Homicide Unit are leading the investigation. Police have not released information on a possible motive.
