CAROLINA FOREST, S.C. – Authorities are searching for a suspect identified as 17-year-old Liz Moore following a shooting in the Southgate community near Hidden Creek Lane on Thursday.

The Horry County Police Department (HCPD) reported that two individuals were injured in the incident, which has prompted a heightened police response in the area.

The suspect, described as a Black male wearing black sweatpants, a gray hoodie, and sporting dreadlocks, is considered “armed and dangerous.”

Residents are advised not to approach the suspect and to contact law enforcement immediately if they have any information on his whereabouts.

According to the HCPD, the incident appears to have been “isolated,” and those directly involved in the shooting have been located.

However, the investigation remains active, and law enforcement officials are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the event.

As a precaution, Carolina Forest Elementary School and Creative Beginnings briefly implemented lockdown procedures due to their proximity to the shooting.

These measures were lifted after it was deemed safe, and no students or staff were harmed.

The HCPD has assured the community that a thorough investigation is underway and has increased patrols in the Southgate area while they search for the suspect.

Residents should expect a continued law enforcement presence in the coming days.

Authorities responded to reports of a shooting around 5:40 p.m. at the shopping center.

Upon arrival, first responders located Segoviano suffering from a gunshot wound.

Despite immediate life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Preliminary investigations revealed that an altercation occurred inside the store between Segoviano and the suspect.

The situation escalated from a verbal dispute to a physical confrontation outside the store.

During the altercation, the suspect allegedly produced a firearm, prompting Segoviano to attempt to flee.

As Segoviano was running away, the suspect fired multiple shots, striking him.

Segoviano collapsed shortly after and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing the suspect fleeing southeast from the location.

Indio police officers quickly responded and detained a 19-year-old male suspect within the shopping center vicinity.

He was subsequently booked into the John Benoit Detention Center on charges of murder.

The suspect is scheduled for arraignment on Wednesday and is currently held at the Southwest Detention Center in Murrieta on $1 million bail.
