Shooting at Maine Mall Leaves One Injured, Search for Juvenile Suspect Ongoing
South Portland, Maine — Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating a shooting incident that occurred at the Maine Mall in South Portland, leaving one person injured and prompting an extensive search for the suspected juvenile shooter.
According to the South Portland Police Department (SPPD), officers responded to reports of gunfire inside the mall during the afternoon hours.
Authorities have described the incident as “isolated,” with no indication of an ongoing threat to the wider public.
Preliminary information from tactical command indicates that the shooting took place inside a mall restroom, where the victim was shot at least three times.
Witnesses reported hearing at least four gunshots.
The victim was transported to Maine Medical Center, though their condition remains unknown at this time.
A massive law enforcement response is underway, involving city, state, and county agencies, along with the FBI’s SWAT teams and K-9 units. Officers are actively searching both inside the mall and the surrounding perimeter for the suspect.
The FBI’s tactical teams are preparing to conduct a comprehensive sweep of the mall’s exterior as part of the ongoing operation.
Authorities are urging the public to avoid the Maine Mall area while the investigation and search continue.
No additional injuries have been reported.

City of Hammond, Louisiana — At approximately 11:50 p.m. on February 24, 2026, officers with the Hammond Police Department responded to a report of shots fired involving one possible victim.
Upon arrival, officers located a 14-year-old juvenile female, identified as Tyronai Reed, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency medical assistance was rendered at the scene, and she was transported to North Oaks Health System for treatment.
Despite life-saving efforts, Reed later succumbed to her injuries.
Detectives assigned to the department’s Criminal Investigations Division launched an immediate homicide investigation.
During the course of their investigation, authorities identified 18-year-old Demontez Treyvon “Trey” Robinson of Hammond as a suspect in the shooting.
While actively working the case, officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and conducted a traffic stop.
Robinson was identified as the driver of the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident.
Robinson was transported to the Criminal Investigations Division for questioning. According to investigators, Robinson admitted that the firearm discharged while he was handling or “playing with” it, resulting in the single round striking the 14-year-old victim.
Robinson was subsequently booked into the Hammond City Jail on one count of Negligent Homicide.
