1 killed another injured after shooting reported near courthouse in Griffin,
The community is advised to avoid the area.
UPDATE: One person was killed, and another was hospitalized following a shooting in downtown Griffin on Friday.
Police confirmed that the individuals involved were acquainted with each other.
ORIGINAL REPORT:
Griffin, GA – On September 13th, 2024, Griffin Police and Spalding County Deputies responded to reports of an active shooter situation near the intersection of 6th Street and Solomon Street, outside the Spalding County Courthouse.
The incident involved two individuals who were known to each other. One person has tragically died from their injuries, while the other is receiving treatment at Spalding Regional Medical Center.
Law enforcement officials confirm there is no longer a threat to the public. The Griffin Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is actively investigating the case.

Florida AMBER Alert Issued for Missing Child, Camila Guzman
Authorities have issued a Florida Amber Alert for 2-year-old Camila Guzman, who was last seen in Fort Myers, Florida.
She may have been spotted near the 500 block of SE 5th Avenue in Cape Coral, Florida. Camila is believed to be in the company of Luis Valentin.
Missing Child: Camila Guzman
- Age: 2 years old
- Last Seen: 4600 block of Deleon Street, Fort Myers, FL
- Description: Brown eyes, brown hair, last seen wearing a black long-sleeve shirt and black pants
Suspected Abductor: Luis Valentin
- Age: 24 years old
- Description: Brown eyes, brown hair, last seen wearing an unknown-colored shirt, gray shorts, and possibly slides
- Distinguishing Marks: Tattoo of a lion and the word “princess” on his neck
