UPDATE: A massive multi-agency manhunt in Christian County has ended with the suspect dead, but not before claiming the lives of two sheriff’s deputies and injuring two others.

According to Brad Cole, the suspect, Richard Bird, was shot and killed by law enforcement officers early Tuesday morning near the roundabout on State Highway 160 close to Reeds Spring.

Authorities confirmed that two deputies with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office were killed in the line of duty during the operation. One of the fallen deputies has been identified as 30-year-old Deputy Gabriel Ramirez.

The name of the second deputy has not yet been publicly released pending family notification.

Christian County, Mo. — A deputy with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office was fatally shot during a traffic stop along State Highway 160 near Highlandville, prompting the issuance of a statewide Blue Alert.

Authorities have since confirmed that the suspect has not been taken into custody.

According to law enforcement officials, the deputy initiated a traffic stop involving a 2001 Chevrolet extended cab pickup truck when the suspect opened fire.

The deputy was struck during the encounter and later died from his injuries.

Following the shooting, the suspect fled the scene traveling southbound on Highway 160.

A Blue Alert was issued to warn the public and assist in locating the suspect vehicle, described as a black pickup truck with silver brush guard, black body trim, tinted rear windows, and a three-ball hitch.

The vehicle was bearing Missouri license plate 9MG-X36.

Authorities advised the public not to approach the vehicle if spotted and to call 911 immediately, providing as much information as possible while remaining at a safe distance.

Christian County is located just south of Springfield and north of Branson, an area frequently traveled by residents and visitors to the Ozarks.

Law enforcement agencies across the region coordinated efforts to apprehend the suspect, who was ultimately located and taken into custody.

Officials have not yet released additional details regarding the circumstances of the arrest.

Authorities have expressed condolences to the deputy’s family, colleagues, and the broader community as they mourn the loss of a fallen officer.

A man has been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman in the Avondale neighborhood of Cincinnati, according to the Cincinnati Police Department.

Authorities identified the suspect as Jesse Wilson, 65, who has been charged with aggravated murder in the death of 36-year-old Jessica Hardy. Wilson was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Hamilton County Justice Center.

Police said officers were dispatched at approximately 6:35 a.m. on March 6 to the 700 block of Ridgeway Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting.

When officers arrived at the Avondale apartment building, they discovered Hardy suffering from a gunshot wound.

Emergency crews attempted lifesaving measures, but Hardy was pronounced dead at the scene, according to investigators.

The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office later confirmed her death and ruled the case an apparent homicide.

Detectives with the homicide unit launched an investigation shortly after the shooting, gathering evidence and interviewing witnesses as they worked to determine the circumstances leading up to the deadly incident.

Wilson was subsequently identified as a suspect and arrested.

Authorities have not yet released additional details about what may have led to the shooting.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police have asked anyone with information related to the case to contact the homicide unit.
