27-year-old Mikell Rayford Killed After Shooting at James House Apartments in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS, MO – Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred late Sunday night in a North St. Louis apartment complex.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department (SLMPD), officers responded to reports of a shooting just before midnight at the James House Apartments, located in the 4300 block of Saint Ferdinand.

Upon arrival, officers discovered 27-year-old Mikell Rayford suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.

Emergency medical personnel pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Rayford was involved in a heated altercation with the suspect in the hallway of the building before the situation escalated into gunfire.

Authorities have identified the suspect, who remains at large.

The investigation is ongoing as law enforcement continues to gather information and locate the individual responsible.

Woman Fatally Struck by Semi-Truck on Birmingham Arkadelphia Road exit ramp from Interstate 5920 Identified as Shontea Baker

Authorities have identified the woman who was killed earlier this week after being struck by a semi-truck on an interstate exit ramp in Birmingham.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed on Friday that the victim was Shontea Renee Baker, 40, a Birmingham resident.

The fatal incident occurred at approximately 10:26 a.m. Wednesday on the Arkadelphia Road exit ramp from Interstate 59/20.

Emergency responders pronounced Baker deceased at the scene at 10:42 a.m.

At this time, no further details regarding the circumstances of the crash have been released.
