Taquirney Fifer killed in Shelby County shooting

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A woman was fatally shot and two men were taken into custody following a late-night shooting at an apartment complex in Southeast Shelby County on Wednesday.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) identified the victim as Taquirney Fifer.

Deputies responded to a report of a shooting with injuries at approximately 10:25 p.m. at the City Place at Germantown Apartments, located near Bromden Lane and Scanlon Drive.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered a woman—later identified as Fifer—lying on the ground with an apparent gunshot wound.

Deputies immediately rendered life-saving aid until Shelby County Fire Department personnel arrived.

Despite their efforts, Fifer was pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities detained two men at the location in connection with the incident. Their identities and potential charges have not yet been released.

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the investigation remains active and ongoing.

Woman Fatally Struck by Semi-Truck on Birmingham Arkadelphia Road exit ramp from Interstate 5920 Identified as Shontea Baker

Authorities have identified the woman who was killed earlier this week after being struck by a semi-truck on an interstate exit ramp in Birmingham.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office confirmed on Friday that the victim was Shontea Renee Baker, 40, a Birmingham resident.

The fatal incident occurred at approximately 10:26 a.m. Wednesday on the Arkadelphia Road exit ramp from Interstate 59/20.

Emergency responders pronounced Baker deceased at the scene at 10:42 a.m.

At this time, no further details regarding the circumstances of the crash have been released.
