Shocking drone footage shows entire Grand Blanc Mormon Church building engulfed
Grand Blanc, Michigan — Authorities are responding to a mass casualty incident at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 4285 McCandlish Road, where an active shooter opened fire Sunday, leaving multiple victims before the building erupted in flames.
Drone footage obtained from the scene shows the church fully engulfed in fire, with portions of the roof beginning to collapse.
Emergency crews are battling the blaze as investigators work to piece together the sequence of events.
Preliminary reports indicate that between six and eight individuals were shot, with witnesses describing two older men lying on the ground outside the church.
Officials have confirmed that the suspect is deceased, though the circumstances surrounding the death have not yet been disclosed.
Scanner traffic and witness accounts suggest the suspect entered the church, opened fire on worshippers, and was followed by a vehicle crashing into the building.
Authorities are investigating the possibility that the vehicle may have been used as an improvised explosive device.
Law enforcement presence is heavy in the area, with an estimated 15 to 20 marked and unmarked vehicles positioned along South Saginaw Road and surrounding streets.
Multiple agencies, including local police, fire departments, and federal authorities, are on scene.
The shooting and subsequent fire remain under active investigation.
A press conference has been scheduled for approximately 12:45 p.m. ET, where officials are expected to provide updates on the number of victims, the suspect’s identity, and the ongoing response.
At this time, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints building remains on fire, and the area has been secured while first responders continue operations.
