Los Angeles — Nick Reiner, the adult son of acclaimed filmmaker Rob Reiner and photographer Michele Singer Reiner, has been arrested and is being held on $4 million bail in connection with the deaths of his parents, according to law enforcement and jail records.

The 32-year-old is currently in the custody of the Los Angeles Police Department and was booked early Monday morning.

Authorities say Rob Reiner, 78, and Michele Singer Reiner, 68, were found deceased Sunday afternoon inside their Brentwood residence on Chadbourne Avenue.

One of the couple’s daughters discovered the bodies and contacted police. Responding officers and paramedics pronounced both victims dead at the scene.

Preliminary findings indicate the couple suffered fatal injuries consistent with sharp-force trauma.

The LAPD’s Robbery-Homicide Division has taken over the investigation. Officials have not publicly disclosed a motive and emphasized that the case remains active.

Investigators are continuing to collect evidence and conduct interviews.

Dispatch records show officers requested additional units at the home shortly after 3:30 p.m. Sunday.

While authorities have confirmed an arrest, they have not released detailed information regarding the circumstances leading up to the deaths or any alleged sequence of events inside the residence.

The news has prompted an outpouring of grief across the entertainment industry. Friends and longtime collaborators, including Billy Crystal and Larry David, were seen at the Reiner home Sunday evening.

Rob Reiner was a towering figure in American film and television. The son of legendary comedian Carl Reiner, he began his career as a comedy writer before rising to fame as Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the landmark sitcom All in the Family, earning two Emmy Awards. He later became one of Hollywood’s most successful directors, with credits including This Is Spinal Tap, Stand by Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, Misery, A Few Good Men, The American President, and The Bucket List. He also continued acting in later years, with appearances on New Girl and The Bear. His most recent directorial project, according to industry listings, is a completed concert film tied to the fictional band Spinal Tap.

Michele Singer Reiner, whom Rob Reiner married in 1989, was a respected photographer and creative partner throughout their more than three decades together. The couple shared three children — Jake, Nick, and Romy — and Rob Reiner also had a daughter, Tracy, from his first marriage to director Penny Marshall.

Nick Reiner remains in custody as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities stress that all allegations are subject to the judicial process, and further details will be released as they are confirmed.

A 43-year-old woman from Bessemer has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend earlier this month, according to authorities.

Court records show Wilhelmina Leigh Carlton, 43, is charged with the murder of Darius Montreal Boglin, 45.

Carlton was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on March 5 and is currently being held without bond.

Officers with the Bessemer Police Department were dispatched at approximately 7:49 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, to the 3100 block of Avenue B following reports of a stabbing.

According to Detective Justin Burmeister, responding officers arrived at the scene and discovered Boglin suffering from a stab wound in a driveway.

Emergency responders attempted to assess his condition, but he was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 8:10 p.m.

Authorities said Carlton was still present at the location when officers arrived and was taken into custody without incident.

Investigators confirmed that Carlton and Boglin were involved in a dating relationship.

Charging documents allege that the fatal incident occurred during an altercation when Boglin allegedly grabbed Carlton from behind, at which point she stabbed him, resulting in his death.
