PORT JERVIS, N.Y. — February 15, 2026 — The City of Port Jervis Police Department is actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred shortly after midnight on Hammond Street.

At approximately 12:32 a.m. on February 15, officers responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunfire in the area of 145–147 Hammond Street, located in the city’s Fourth Ward.

Upon arrival, officers discovered 43-year-old Jason Finch suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the upper body following what authorities described as a disturbance.

Finch was transported to Bon Secours Hospital for emergency medical treatment. Despite lifesaving efforts, he later succumbed to his injuries.

The investigation is being conducted as a homicide and is a coordinated effort involving the New York State Police and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, with additional assistance from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office Special Operations Group and the Hudson Valley Crime Analysis Center.

Authorities have indicated that, at this time, the incident appears to be isolated and there is no known ongoing threat to the public.

Detectives continue to process evidence, conduct interviews, and pursue investigative leads.

Two people were killed and five others injured in a shooting at a downtown EZ’s Lounge early Saturday morning, according to authorities.

The shooting occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. inside the bar located in downtown Oakland.

The Oakland Police Department said officers responded to reports of gunfire and discovered multiple victims at the scene.

Police confirmed that seven people were shot during the incident.

One victim, a 33-year-old woman identified as Teesh Bobo, died at the scene. Authorities said Bobo was a singer known in the local music community.

A second victim, a 25-year-old man, was transported to a hospital with critical injuries but later succumbed to those injuries around 11:30 a.m., officials said.

Five other individuals were wounded in the shooting.

At least three of those victims were hospitalized and listed in stable condition, while the conditions of the remaining injured individuals were not immediately released.

Investigators reported that several people were detained for questioning following the shooting, and multiple firearms were recovered at the scene as part of the ongoing investigation.

The Oakland Police Officers Association released a statement following the incident, expressing concern about continued gun violence in the city.

“The OPOA extends its deepest sympathies to the families and loved ones of those killed this morning in a senseless shooting in downtown Oakland,” the statement read. “Any loss of life to gun violence is a tragedy, and tonight our community is once again grieving.”

The association also called for greater support for law enforcement efforts and stronger cooperation from the community in addressing violence across the city.

The case is currently being investigated by the Homicide Section of the Oakland Police Department.
