LLANO, Calif. — The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man who was fatally shot inside his Llano residence early Monday morning as 67-year-old Carl Grillmair.

According to a press release issued by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau, deputies responded to the 30700 block of 165th Street East at approximately 6:10 a.m. on February 16, 2026, following a 9-1-1 report of an assault with a deadly weapon.

Deputies from the Palmdale Sheriff’s Station arrived at the location and discovered Grillmair lying on the front porch of the home, suffering from a gunshot wound to the torso.

Personnel from the Los Angeles County Fire Department responded and immediately initiated life-saving measures. Despite their efforts, Grillmair was pronounced deceased at the scene.

While deputies were investigating the shooting, they also responded to a reported carjacking in the same general area. Authorities have identified the carjacking suspect as 29-year-old Freddy Snyder.

Snyder was taken into custody in connection with the carjacking and is currently being held on $2 million bail.

Investigators have not publicly confirmed whether the homicide and the carjacking are directly connected, but both incidents occurred within close proximity and timeframe.

Detectives with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Homicide Bureau are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding Grillmair’s death.

As of now, authorities have not released additional details regarding a possible motive or whether additional suspects are being sought.

A 43-year-old woman from Bessemer has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend earlier this month, according to authorities.

Court records show Wilhelmina Leigh Carlton, 43, is charged with the murder of Darius Montreal Boglin, 45.

Carlton was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on March 5 and is currently being held without bond.

Officers with the Bessemer Police Department were dispatched at approximately 7:49 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, to the 3100 block of Avenue B following reports of a stabbing.

According to Detective Justin Burmeister, responding officers arrived at the scene and discovered Boglin suffering from a stab wound in a driveway.

Emergency responders attempted to assess his condition, but he was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 8:10 p.m.

Authorities said Carlton was still present at the location when officers arrived and was taken into custody without incident.

Investigators confirmed that Carlton and Boglin were involved in a dating relationship.

Charging documents allege that the fatal incident occurred during an altercation when Boglin allegedly grabbed Carlton from behind, at which point she stabbed him, resulting in his death.
