Nasir Bostic and Keyvyonn Bostic Charged Following Shooting at Concord Christmas Tree Lighting Event
CONCORD, N.C. — Three individuals are now facing charges after a shooting during the City of Concord’s annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony left four people injured Friday evening.
The incident occurred just before 7:30 p.m. on Union Street South near Corban Avenue, abruptly halting the community celebration and prompting an immediate law enforcement and emergency response.
Officials have confirmed the shooting was not a random attack, stating the individuals involved knew one another, and the violence was not directed toward the public or the event itself.
The Concord Police Department has identified 18-year-old Nasir Ahmad Bostic of Concord as one of the suspected shooters.
Bostic was also among the four individuals wounded by gunfire and was transported to a local hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Authorities have issued warrants for Bostic’s arrest on the following charges:
- Assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill
- Inciting a riot
Police stated Bostic will be formally served with the outstanding warrants upon his release from medical care.
Detectives also identified a second alleged shooter, who is a juvenile.
In accordance with North Carolina juvenile privacy laws, the individual’s name and identifying details will not be released.
Petitions have been filed through the North Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice on the following charges:
- Assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury with intent to kill
- Two counts of discharging a firearm into an occupied property inflicting serious injury
- Inciting a riot
The juvenile suspect was likewise transported to the hospital and remains in critical condition.
A third suspect, 17-year-old Keyvyonn Rayshaund Bostic of Concord, has been taken into custody and charged as an adult. His charges include:
- Accessory after the fact
- Inciting a riot
He was not injured during the incident and was apprehended shortly after the shooting.
Two additional victims, both 17 years old, were transported to the hospital following the shooting. According to authorities:
- One has since been released.
- The second remains in critical condition.
Police state that all individuals involved in the incident have now been identified and accounted for.
Concord Police Chief Jimmy Hughes issued a statement addressing the community impact of the incident:
“A night of celebration for our community was interrupted by senseless violence, affecting everyone who was there. Our community showed great strength and resilience as everyone came together to help one another and our officers. Due to the quick actions of our downtown businesses, the public, first responders, and law enforcement, we were able to quickly evacuate the area, prevent additional injuries, and identify all suspects involved.”
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting but reaffirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the public and no indication that the violence was intended to target attendees of the event.

Suspect Who Shot and Killed Christian County Deputy Identified as Richard Bird
Christian County, Mo. — Authorities have identified the suspect accused of fatally shooting a deputy with the Christian County Sheriff’s Office during a traffic stop as Richard Bird.
At the time the Blue Alert was issued, the suspect had not yet been taken into custody.
According to law enforcement officials, the deputy initiated a traffic stop involving a 2001 Chevrolet extended cab pickup truck along State Highway 160 near Highlandville.
During the stop, the suspect allegedly opened fire, fatally wounding the deputy before fleeing the scene.
The suspect was reported to have traveled southbound on Highway 160 following the shooting.
Authorities described the suspect vehicle as a black 2001 Chevrolet extended cab pickup truck equipped with a silver brush guard, black body trim, tinted rear windows, and a three-ball trailer hitch. The vehicle was bearing Missouri license plate 9MG-X36.
A statewide Blue Alert was issued to notify the public and assist in locating the suspect.
Law enforcement officials urged residents not to approach the vehicle or suspect if located, but instead to immediately call 911 and provide detailed information while remaining at a safe distance.
Christian County is situated south of Springfield and north of Branson, an area that sees significant travel due to its proximity to the Ozarks.
Multiple agencies across the region coordinated efforts in response to the alert.
Authorities have not yet released further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting or the status of the investigation.
Law enforcement officials expressed their condolences to the deputy’s family, colleagues, and the community as they continue to pursue justice in the case.
