Baltimore Police Respond to Officer-Down Incident on Park Heights Avenue
Authorities in Baltimore responded to a critical incident Sunday in the 6200 block of Park Heights Avenue, where a police officer was shot while officers were reportedly handling a possible hostage situation.
According to initial emergency radio reports, a “Signal 13” officer-down alert was transmitted by the Baltimore Police Department, prompting an immediate and large-scale response from law enforcement units across the city.
Officials said officers were already on scene dealing with a potential hostage scenario when gunfire erupted.
During the exchange, one officer was struck by gunfire.
The wounded officer sustained a gunshot wound to the leg and was quickly transported by fellow officers to R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment. The officer’s condition has not yet been publicly released.
Authorities reported that the male suspect remained actively shooting at officers during the incident.
Tactical units were immediately requested, and a SWAT BearCat armored vehicle was dispatched to assist officers on the scene.
Police radio traffic indicated the situation involved an active hostage threat, with responding officers reporting that the suspect was holding a firearm to a female victim’s head inside the location.
The area around Park Heights Avenue was quickly secured as specialized tactical teams moved into position to stabilize the situation and attempt to safely resolve the hostage crisis.
The incident remains active and developing, and authorities have not yet released further details regarding the suspect, the condition of the hostage, or additional injuries.
Officials are expected to provide more information as the situation unfolds and investigators continue working the scene.

Wilhelmina Leigh Carlton charged with the murder in stabbing of her boyfriend Darius Montreal Boglin
A 43-year-old woman from Bessemer has been arrested and charged with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of her boyfriend earlier this month, according to authorities.
Court records show Wilhelmina Leigh Carlton, 43, is charged with the murder of Darius Montreal Boglin, 45.
Carlton was booked into the Jefferson County Jail on March 5 and is currently being held without bond.
Officers with the Bessemer Police Department were dispatched at approximately 7:49 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, to the 3100 block of Avenue B following reports of a stabbing.
According to Detective Justin Burmeister, responding officers arrived at the scene and discovered Boglin suffering from a stab wound in a driveway.
Emergency responders attempted to assess his condition, but he was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 8:10 p.m.
Authorities said Carlton was still present at the location when officers arrived and was taken into custody without incident.
Investigators confirmed that Carlton and Boglin were involved in a dating relationship.
Charging documents allege that the fatal incident occurred during an altercation when Boglin allegedly grabbed Carlton from behind, at which point she stabbed him, resulting in his death.
