17-year-old Stephanie Lopez-Ramirez found shot dead inside Humboldt Park home
On a typically peaceful Tuesday morning, a shocking incident occurred in the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago.
17-year-old Stephanie Lopez-Ramirez was found fatally shot inside her apartment in the 700 block of North Avers Avenue.
Police arrived at the scene around 12:30 p.m., responding to calls about the shooting.
Lopez-Ramirez, a resident of the 3300 block of West Potomac Avenue, suffered a gunshot wound to her arm. Despite immediate medical attention, she was tragically pronounced dead at 1:01 p.m.
The block is now predominantly populated by newer residents, many of whom were unaware of the tragic event that had taken place just a day earlier.
Local detectives from Area 4 are actively investigating the homicide, and a suspect remains in custody. However, no charges have been filed at this time.

GLEN BURNIE, Md. — Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting reported in Glen Burnie, Maryland, after an incident in which a suspect allegedly crashed a vehicle into a law enforcement agent.
Preliminary reports indicate that one suspect sustained a gunshot wound and was transported under a Priority B medical status.
