13-Year-Old Arrested for Making Threat Against Moss Bluff Middle School

A 13-year-old student at Moss Bluff Middle School was arrested on Thursday, October 10th, after making threats of violence against the school.

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office received a call at approximately 8:45 AM regarding the threat.

During the investigation, it was determined that the suspect had made statements indicating their intent to “be the next school shooter.”

Detectives identified the suspect and, after further investigation, confirmed that the individual had indeed made the threatening statements.

The juvenile was taken into custody and booked into the Juvenile Detention Center on charges of terrorizing.

Detective William Vaughan of the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office is leading the investigation into this incident.

The Calcasieu Parish School Board provided assistance to law enforcement during the investigation.

It is important to note that an arrest is merely an indication that probable cause exists to believe the suspect was involved in the alleged offense.

The individual is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

Two San Antonio Police officers shot at West Side hotel, suspect killed 6800 block of U.S. Highway 90 westbound, near Military Drive

SAN ANTONIO, TX — Two San Antonio police officers were shot during an incident on the city’s West Side Wednesday morning, according to Police Chief William McManus. The suspected gunman is also reported to be down.

The shooting occurred shortly after 8:30 a.m. in the 6800 block of U.S. Highway 90 westbound, near Military Drive, in the parking area of the Travelodge Motel.

Multiple emergency medical units were dispatched to the scene following reports of officers injured by gunfire.

When officers responded to the location, an exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in both officers being struck.

The suspect was also shot during the confrontation.

The conditions of the officers have not yet been released, and it remains unclear how severe their injuries are.

The access road along U.S. Highway 90 westbound has been closed as police secure the area and conduct a full investigation.

A large law enforcement presence, including tactical and crime scene units, remains on site.

Chief McManus confirmed that additional details will be provided during a scheduled press briefing later today, as investigators work to determine the events leading up to the shooting and whether any additional suspects were involved.

Residents are urged to avoid the area as the investigation remains active.
