Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting of Hospital Employee Outside Our Lady of the Lake Hospital

BATON ROUGE, LA – Authorities have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of 58-year-old Patricia Jackson, who was killed Wednesday afternoon outside Our Lady of the Lake (OLOL) Hospital in what police believe was a domestic-related incident.
The Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD) confirmed that the suspect, 60-year-old Roland Domino, was taken into custody shortly after 7 p.m. on the Mississippi River Bridge following an extensive search.
He has been booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison on charges of second-degree murder and illegal use of a weapon.
As of Thursday morning, his bond had not yet been set.
The fatal shooting occurred around 3:50 p.m. in the 5000 block of Hennessy Boulevard, within the hospital parking lot behind the Walgreens store at the corner of Essen Lane and Hennessy Boulevard.
Chief TJ Morse of BRPD stated that Jackson, an employee of OLOL, was leaving work when she got into a verbal altercation with Domino in the parking lot.
The argument escalated, leading Domino to allegedly open fire, striking Jackson multiple times before fleeing the scene.
Following the shooting, the hospital was placed on lockdown for approximately an hour as a precautionary measure.
The lockdown was lifted just before 5 p.m., according to a hospital spokesperson.
BRPD officers located Domino on the Mississippi River Bridge around 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 19.
He was approached by uniformed officers and taken into custody without incident.
Authorities revealed that Domino has a criminal history that includes forgery, simple burglary, aggravated assault, and simple battery.
Our Lady of the Lake Health President, Chuck Spicer, expressed deep sorrow over the loss, highlighting Jackson’s role as a valued member of the hospital staff.
“Thoughts are with the family. They lost a family member—a daughter, a mother, and a sister. Our work family lost one of our own,” Spicer said. “Thanks to the first responders and our security team for acting quickly. Please give us time to heal and grieve. Thank you again to law enforcement for their presence.”
OLOL Health also issued an official statement following the incident:
*”Our Lady of the Lake is a beacon of healing for our community, and today that sacred space was shattered by a tragic act of violence. We lost a member of our work family, a mother, and a friend to many.
We want to thank law enforcement for their quick response, the team members who jumped into action to provide care, and our security personnel who ensured the safety of our facilities.

Both Nova and Emery were McKenzie’s biological children, authorities confirmed.
