17-year-old Garrett Sorrenti killed after shooting at Wawa in Monroe County
The Stroud Area Regional Police Department is conducting an investigation into a fatal shooting that occurred shortly after 8:00 p.m. in Stroudsburg.
According to an official release, officers responded to multiple reports of a shooting at the Wawa on West Main Street.
Upon arrival, police discovered 17-year-old Garrett Sorrenti suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.
Officers administered lifesaving measures until EMS arrived, but Sorrenti later succumbed to his injuries at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
Preliminary investigations indicate the incident began as a verbal altercation inside the store, escalating into a physical confrontation involving multiple individuals.
During the altercation, the suspect reportedly produced a handgun and fired a single shot before fleeing the scene.
The Monroe County Coroner’s Office pronounced Sorrenti deceased at the hospital just before 11:00 p.m.
