17-Year-Old Danyelisse Pabon-Cubero Dies Following Alphonse Street Shooting
ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A 17-year-old girl who was critically injured during a double shooting on Alphonse Street has died, Rochester Police confirmed.
The victim, identified as Danyelisse Pabon-Cubero, succumbed to her injuries on Sunday, May 5, nearly a week after the incident occurred.
The shooting took place in the early morning hours of Tuesday, April 30. Rochester Police Department officers responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 1:30 a.m. in the area of Alphonse Street.
Upon arrival, officers located two gunshot victims: Pabon-Cubero and an adult male in his 30s. Both had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Emergency personnel rendered immediate aid and transported both victims to Strong Memorial Hospital.
While the male victim survived, Pabon-Cubero remained in critical condition until she passed away five days later.
Shortly after the shooting, investigators identified 18-year-old Michael Garcia as the primary suspect.
He was taken into custody later that same day during a lengthy SWAT operation in Brockport.
Two additional individuals were also detained during the operation, though their identities and involvement have not been disclosed.
Garcia was initially charged with assault in connection with the shooting.
However, with the death of Pabon-Cubero now confirmed, Rochester Police say his charges will be upgraded to second-degree murder.
Formal amendments to the charges are expected during his next court appearance.

PolaBear Red Filmz owner Troy Hollingsworth killed in West Pullman shooting
CHICAGO — A 37-year-old Chicago photographer was fatally shot Sunday night in the West Pullman neighborhood, according to the Chicago Police Department.
The victim was identified as Troy Hollingsworth, owner of PolaBear Red Filmz.
Police said Hollingsworth was seated inside his Nissan Maxima in the 100 block of East 118th Place at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, January 18, when an unknown individual opened fire.
Hollingsworth was struck multiple times and was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities confirmed.
At this time, no suspects are in custody, and detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Additional details have not been released as the investigation remains ongoing.
