1 killed, another injured after shooting at Kentucky State University in Frankfort
Frankfort, KY — One person was killed and another critically injured Tuesday afternoon following an “active aggressor” incident on the campus of Kentucky State University (KSU) in Frankfort.
According to the Frankfort Police Department, officers were dispatched to the university just after 3:30 p.m. for reports of an active threat.
Police secured the campus within minutes and quickly took a suspect into custody.
Approximately one hour later, authorities confirmed that one victim had died from their injuries.
A second victim was transported to a local hospital and remains in critical condition. The shootings occurred inside Young Hall, a residential building on campus.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear addressed the situation on social media, stating:
“We are aware of a reported shooting at Kentucky State University in Frankfort. At this time, we are aware of some injuries. We will share more information as available. Law enforcement are on scene, and a suspect has been arrested. Let’s pray for all those affected.”
KSU’s campus remains on lockdown until further notice as authorities continue their investigation.
“It is with deep sadness that I share news of the shooting that took place on Kentucky State’s campus this afternoon. I am proud of the swift and coordinated law enforcement response that resulted in the immediate apprehension of the suspect.
Two victims have been identified. Tragically, one person has succumbed to their injuries.
The second victim has been transported to the hospital and is currently in critical condition.

Suspect stabbed both of his parents in Owings Mills
OWINGS MILLS, Md. (Baltimore County) — Authorities are investigating a multiple-victim stabbing that left two people critically injured in Owings Mills.
According to preliminary information, Baltimore County Police and emergency medical personnel responded to the 12300 block of Greenspring Avenue following reports of a stabbing.
Upon arrival, first responders located two victims suffering from severe stab wounds, both classified as priority-one patients.
Emergency crews requested a medical helicopter due to the seriousness of the injuries.
A landing zone was established at Ridge Road and Greenspring Avenue.
One victim was transported by medevac, while the second victim was transported by ground ambulance to a nearby trauma center.
Initial reports indicate that the caller may have stabbed both of his parents.
Police confirmed that a possible suspect has been detained at the scene.
Authorities have not yet released the identities of the victims or the suspect.
The investigation remains active and ongoing, and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
