62-year-old Charles Buie killed in two-vehicle crash in Adams County
ADAMS COUNTY, Miss. — Authorities are investigating a fatal two-vehicle crash that left one man dead and multiple others injured, including a 6-year-old child, Wednesday afternoon in Adams County.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, the collision occurred at approximately 3:51 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 84 and Highway 61.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2024 Nissan Sentra, driven by 30-year-old Megan Miller of Albany, Louisiana, was traveling westbound on Highway 84 when it collided with a 2009 Nissan Versa traveling northbound on Highway 61.
The Versa was driven by 79-year-old Bertha Buie of Fayette, Mississippi.
Authorities confirmed that a passenger in the Nissan Versa, identified as 62-year-old Charles E. Buie, sustained critical injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.
Additional occupants in the Versa, including 77-year-old Virginia Morgan and a 6-year-old child, were also injured in the crash and transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. The extent of their injuries has not been fully disclosed.
The driver of the Nissan Sentra was not reported to have sustained life-threatening injuries.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash, including factors that may have contributed to the collision.

Train Derails in Ferguson Involving Vehicles, Hazmat Team Called Over Ethyl Alcohol Rail Car
FERGUSON, Mo. — A train derailment involving vehicles prompted an emergency response in Ferguson on Ferguson Avenue, where authorities requested a hazardous materials team after determining that one of the train cars contained ethyl alcohol.
Emergency units were dispatched to 617 Ferguson Avenue after reports of the rail incident. Responders found a train that had derailed with vehicles involved.
Officials confirmed there was no reported entrapment. Crews were checking the scene for injuries and evaluating those involved in the incident.
A Hazmat response was requested because one rail car involved in the derailment was carrying ethyl alcohol. Emergency crews were assessing the rail car for any potential leak or hazardous condition and working to secure the area.
The presence of ethyl alcohol prompted additional safety precautions while responders examined the derailed train and surrounding vehicles.
At this time, authorities have not released details about possible injuries, the cause of the derailment or the extent of damage.
