Deputies with the Angelina County Sheriff’s Office responded Thursday to a report of a disturbed gravesite at Davis Memorial Gardens in Lufkin.

Upon arrival, investigators discovered that the grave of a newborn infant had been opened and that both the remains and the burial container were missing.

Officials indicated that the case file is still pending review by the district attorney’s office, and formal prosecutorial decisions are expected once the documentation is submitted.
