Jordan Vaughn Killed in Motorcycle and SUV Crash at Pine Street and Anson Avenue in Abilene, Texas
ABILENE, Texas — Authorities have identified the motorcyclist killed in a Thursday afternoon collision in north Abilene as 23-year-old Jordan Vaughn of Abilene.
According to the Abilene Police Department, officers responded at approximately 2:14 p.m. to reports of a serious crash at the intersection of Pine Street and Anson Avenue.
When emergency crews arrived, they discovered a Yamaha motorcycle and a Jeep SUV had collided in the intersection.
Investigators said Vaughn, who was operating the motorcycle, suffered fatal injuries in the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Authorities confirmed that his next of kin has been notified.
Preliminary findings indicate that the Jeep SUV was traveling southbound in the 2900 block of Pine Street when it attempted to make a left turn onto Anson Avenue. During the maneuver, the SUV struck Vaughn’s northbound motorcycle.
Officials stated that the circumstances leading up to the collision remain under investigation by the Abilene Police Department’s Traffic Division.
Police also noted that intoxication does not appear to have been a factor in the crash.
The fatal motorcycle accident caused a significant emergency response in the area as investigators processed the scene and worked to determine the exact sequence of events that led to the deadly collision.

Train Derails in Ferguson Involving Vehicles, Hazmat Team Called Over Ethyl Alcohol Rail Car
FERGUSON, Mo. — A train derailment involving vehicles prompted an emergency response in Ferguson on Ferguson Avenue, where authorities requested a hazardous materials team after determining that one of the train cars contained ethyl alcohol.
Emergency units were dispatched to 617 Ferguson Avenue after reports of the rail incident. Responders found a train that had derailed with vehicles involved.
Officials confirmed there was no reported entrapment. Crews were checking the scene for injuries and evaluating those involved in the incident.
A Hazmat response was requested because one rail car involved in the derailment was carrying ethyl alcohol. Emergency crews were assessing the rail car for any potential leak or hazardous condition and working to secure the area.
The presence of ethyl alcohol prompted additional safety precautions while responders examined the derailed train and surrounding vehicles.
At this time, authorities have not released details about possible injuries, the cause of the derailment or the extent of damage.
