KALISPELL, Mont. — A 50-year-old Kalispell man is being held in the Flathead County Detention Center in connection with a deadly shooting in Eureka that left a Lincoln County sheriff’s deputy and a woman dead, authorities said.
Matthew David Dye is being held on a pending deliberate homicide warrant. Lincoln County Sheriff Darren Short said formal charges are expected to be filed next week. Dye is also expected to appear for an initial hearing in Lincoln County Justice Court.
Authorities accuse Dye of involvement in the shooting reported Friday night, October 30, at 118 Lone Pine Trail in Eureka. The incident claimed the lives of Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Ryan Terpsma, 28, and Merrisa Walker, 46.
A Eureka police officer was wounded in the shooting, and a juvenile girl was injured and treated at the scene. The extent of their injuries has not been disclosed in the information provided.
