20-year-old male shot on SUNY Morrisville campus in New York
MORRISVILLE, N.Y. — The New York State Police and University Police are conducting a joint investigation following a shooting incident that occurred afternoon on the SUNY Morrisville campus.
At approximately 3:45 p.m., troopers responded to South Hall after receiving reports of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 20-year-old male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.
The victim, who is not a student at SUNY Morrisville, was transported to Upstate University Hospital for treatment.
His current condition has not been released.
Authorities confirmed that no other injuries have been reported and stated there is no ongoing threat to the campus community.
A command post has been established as investigators continue processing the scene and gathering evidence.
In a statement, New York State Police (NYSP) said additional details will be released as the investigation progresses.
Shortly after the incident, SUNY Morrisville issued an emergency alert on its official website, notifying students and staff of an immediate campus lockdown and the cancellation of all evening classes.
The message read:
“Lockdown / Evening Classes Cancelled
Campus on lockdown. All evening classes on the Morrisville campus have been cancelled. Students in classes currently are required to remain in place. Please remain where you are until the lockdown has been lifted.”
At 4:37 p.m., Governor Kathy Hochul addressed the situation in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating:
“I have been briefed on the shooting on campus at SUNY Morrisville. New York State Police are assisting local law enforcement and SUNY leadership as they respond to this situation. The campus remains on lockdown until further notice.”
Law enforcement officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available from state and university authorities.

Suspect wounded after officer-involved shooting in Glen Burnie
GLEN BURNIE, Md. — Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting reported in Glen Burnie, Maryland, after an incident in which a suspect allegedly crashed a vehicle into a law enforcement agent.
Preliminary reports indicate that one suspect sustained a gunshot wound and was transported under a Priority B medical status.
Emergency medical services also responded to assist a law enforcement agent who reported neck pain; a second EMS unit was requested to provide additional medical evaluation and care.
