Graphic Video Captures Aftermath of Shooting at Buford’s Bar on West Sixth Street in Austin
AUSTIN, Texas — Three people were killed and at least 14 others were injured following a mass shooting early Sunday morning at Buford’s Bar on West Sixth Street, authorities confirmed.
Officers with the Austin Police Department responded to reports of gunfire at approximately 1:59 a.m. at the popular nightlife venue located in downtown Austin’s entertainment district.
According to Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis, a male suspect opened fire inside or near the establishment, striking multiple victims.
Three officers on scene returned fire, fatally shooting the suspect.
Authorities described the suspect as “neutralized,” and confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Two victims were pronounced deceased at the scene. Additional victims were transported to nearby hospitals, where at least one more individual later succumbed to their injuries, bringing the total number of fatalities to three.
Police reported that at least 14 individuals were taken to area hospitals for treatment.
Three of those hospitalized remain in critical condition. Initial assessments indicated as many as 17 victims may have been transported for medical care as emergency crews worked to stabilize the scene.
By approximately 3:30 a.m., law enforcement and emergency personnel were still evaluating the extent and severity of injuries. The crime scene spans portions of West Sixth Street near Nueces Street and is expected to require several hours to process.
Federal investigators are assisting local authorities as the investigation continues. Officials have not yet released the identity of the suspect or the victims pending notification of next of kin.
Austin Mayor Kirk Watson stated that city officials will continue to provide updates as additional verified information becomes available.
The Austin Police Department reiterated that the suspect is deceased and that there is no continuing danger to the community. Authorities are urging anyone with information or video footage of the incident to contact investigators.
The investigation remains active, and further details are expected to be released as officials complete preliminary findings and evidence processing.

Atlanta Officer Struck by Vehicle at Ted Turner Drive and Mitchell Street, Suspect Fled Scene
ATLANTA, Ga. — An Atlanta police officer was struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Ted Turner Drive SW and Mitchell Street SW, according to preliminary reports.
The incident occurred in the downtown area, where authorities say the suspect vehicle fled the scene immediately after hitting the officer.
A description of the vehicle has not yet been released.
Emergency medical personnel responded promptly, and the injured officer is currently being evaluated by EMS.
Officials have not disclosed the extent of the officer’s injuries at this time.
The Atlanta Police Department is actively investigating the incident and searching for the suspect vehicle.
