43-year-old Brandon Durham killed in officer-involved shooting near Sunset Park

Las Vegas police have released details regarding an officer-involved shooting that resulted in the death of a knife-wielding suspect near Sunset Park on Tuesday.

On that day, officers responded to reports of a disturbance in the 6900 block of Wine Drive.

Upon arrival, they heard a loud commotion coming from within a nearby residence.

After entering the home, officers encountered two individuals engaged in a physical altercation, during which one of them was armed with a knife.

According to police, one officer commanded the armed individual to drop the weapon.

However, when the situation escalated, another officer discharged his firearm, striking the armed individual.

The Clark County Coroner identified the deceased as 43-year-old Brandon Durham. Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) identified the officer who fired his weapon as 26-year-old Officer Alexander Bookman.

Officer Bookman, who joined the LVMPD in 2021, is assigned to the Community Safety Division within the South Central Area Command.

Following standard protocol, Officer Bookman has been placed on paid administrative leave while the department conducts a thorough review of the incident.

The LVMPD continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the altercation to ensure all details are fully examined.

Two San Antonio Police officers shot at West Side hotel, suspect killed 6800 block of U.S. Highway 90 westbound, near Military Drive

SAN ANTONIO, TX — Two San Antonio police officers were shot during an incident on the city’s West Side Wednesday morning, according to Police Chief William McManus. The suspected gunman is also reported to be down.

The shooting occurred shortly after 8:30 a.m. in the 6800 block of U.S. Highway 90 westbound, near Military Drive, in the parking area of the Travelodge Motel.

Multiple emergency medical units were dispatched to the scene following reports of officers injured by gunfire.

When officers responded to the location, an exchange of gunfire ensued, resulting in both officers being struck.

The suspect was also shot during the confrontation.

The conditions of the officers have not yet been released, and it remains unclear how severe their injuries are.

The access road along U.S. Highway 90 westbound has been closed as police secure the area and conduct a full investigation.

A large law enforcement presence, including tactical and crime scene units, remains on site.

Chief McManus confirmed that additional details will be provided during a scheduled press briefing later today, as investigators work to determine the events leading up to the shooting and whether any additional suspects were involved.

Residents are urged to avoid the area as the investigation remains active.
