26-year-old Erykah Tate killed after shooting in Fairfield neighborhood

UPDATE: The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of 28-year-old Shazaria Williams in connection with the recent shooting incident.
Williams is currently being held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond and faces formal charges related to the case.

Authorities have not yet released additional details about the charges or circumstances surrounding the arrest.

Authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a woman late Monday afternoon in a Fairfield neighborhood.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as 26-year-old Erykah Nameke Tate, a Fairfield resident.
Deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a person shot at approximately 4:50 p.m. in the 400 block of Forest Drive, located in the Forest Hills community.
Upon arrival, emergency responders from Fairfield Fire and Rescue pronounced Tate deceased at the scene by 4:56 p.m.. It remains unclear whether the shooting occurred inside a residence or outside.
Authorities have not yet disclosed any details about the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Investigators remained on-site for several hours following the incident, combing the area for evidence.
No arrests have been made as of this time.
Tate’s death marks the second homicide investigated by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office since Saturday, following the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old in the Center Point area over the weekend.
This incident contributes to the 185 homicides reported in Jefferson County this year, underscoring a troubling trend of violence in the area.

14-year-old Tyronai Reed killed after shooting in Hammond
City of Hammond, Louisiana — At approximately 11:50 p.m. on February 24, 2026, officers with the Hammond Police Department responded to a report of shots fired involving one possible victim.
Upon arrival, officers located a 14-year-old juvenile female, identified as Tyronai Reed, suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency medical assistance was rendered at the scene, and she was transported to North Oaks Health System for treatment.
Despite life-saving efforts, Reed later succumbed to her injuries.
Detectives assigned to the department’s Criminal Investigations Division launched an immediate homicide investigation.
During the course of their investigation, authorities identified 18-year-old Demontez Treyvon “Trey” Robinson of Hammond as a suspect in the shooting.
While actively working the case, officers observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed and conducted a traffic stop.
Robinson was identified as the driver of the vehicle and was taken into custody without incident.
Robinson was transported to the Criminal Investigations Division for questioning. According to investigators, Robinson admitted that the firearm discharged while he was handling or “playing with” it, resulting in the single round striking the 14-year-old victim.
Robinson was subsequently booked into the Hammond City Jail on one count of Negligent Homicide.
Authorities emphasize that the investigation remains in its early stages and additional details may be released as they become available.
