Suspect in Custody Following Stabbing Near UVA Grounds, Victim in Critical Condition

Charlottesville, VA – A 44-year-old man is in police custody, and another individual is fighting for their life following a stabbing incident near the University of Virginia (UVA) on Thursday evening.
The Charlottesville Police Department (CPD) has identified the suspect as Edward Conlin Lee, a Charlottesville resident, who has been charged with malicious wounding in connection with the attack.
Authorities confirmed that Lee and the victim were acquainted, though neither individual has any known affiliation with UVA.
The stabbing reportedly stemmed from an altercation between Lee and the victim at Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
Following the dispute, the victim fled the scene and was later found one block away with stab wounds to the torso.
Emergency responders transported the victim to UVA Medical Center, where they remain in critical condition as of Thursday night.
At approximately 5:00 p.m., UVA issued an emergency alert warning students and faculty of an active attacker armed with a knife near 100 Emmet Street, across from Alumni Hall.
Shortly after, the university followed up with a shelter-in-place order as law enforcement searched for the suspect.
By 6:00 p.m., police located Lee near Stribling Avenue, where he was taken into custody without further incident.
The Charlottesville Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the stabbing. No further details regarding the suspect’s motive or additional charges have been released at this time.

BARTOW, FL — Authorities are investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred at 120 Polk Street East in Bartow.
The incident resulted in three individuals sustaining gunshot wounds, including a Bartow Police Department (BPD) officer, a public safety aide (PSA) officer, and the suspect involved.
Emergency medical services were immediately requested at the scene to provide critical aid to all three gunshot victims.
