Suspect Arrested in Murder of North Texas Rapper and His 5-Year-Old Daughter, Second Gunman Still at Large
Authorities have taken one suspect into custody in connection with the tragic murder of North Texas rapper Ronnie Sibley, 30, and his 5-year-old daughter, R’mani Sibley.
Forest Hill Police Chief David Hernandez confirmed that 24-year-old Adonis Robinson was arrested on March 6 in Livingston, Texas, approximately 75 miles east of Houston.
His arrest was made with assistance from the Texas Rangers and Fort Worth police.
Investigators have identified Robinson and 21-year-old Jakobe Russell as the alleged gunmen responsible for the fatal shooting, which took place at Slappy’s Car Wash in Forest Hill.
While Robinson is now in custody, Russell remains at large, and authorities continue to search for him.
Police say Ronnie Sibley, who resided in Crowley, Texas, had stopped in Forest Hill to pick up his daughter.
Minutes after R’mani was dropped off to him at the car wash, gunfire erupted, claiming the lives of both father and daughter.
Investigators have not disclosed a motive for the shooting but stated that the music industry is part of their ongoing investigation.
While police have not confirmed how the suspects knew Sibley, they are continuing to piece together details of the fatal encounter.
The heartbreaking tragedy occurred just one day after R’mani’s fifth birthday.
The young girl’s mother is devastated and grieving, said family spokesperson Bishop Rodney McIntosh, who pleaded with those involved to surrender.
“The mother wants everyone to know she is heartbroken and grieving,” McIntosh said. “On behalf of the mother, I would ask them to do the right thing and come forward.”
In addition to R’mani, Sibley leaves behind a 12-year-old daughter, who is now mourning the loss of both her father and younger sister.
Robinson has a violent criminal history and is a registered sex offender, according to court records.
In 2019, he was arrested and later convicted for assaulting a woman who was walking along a trail.
Authorities also confirmed that Robinson’s girlfriend, Ka’lyla Maria, was apprehended and is believed to have served as the getaway driver in the fatal shooting.
While one suspect is in custody, authorities continue to search for Jakobe Russell, who remains at large.
Anyone with information on Russell’s whereabouts is urged to contact Forest Hill Police or Crime Stoppers.
