Video shows moments Oak Park Police Detective Allan Reddins killed in the line of duty, suspect injured
OAK PARK, IL – The Oak Park Police Department is grieving the loss of one of its own after a tragic shooting on Friday morning left a detective dead and a suspect injured.
At approximately 9:35 a.m., the Oak Park Fire Department responded to reports of gunfire in the 800 block of Lake Street. When authorities arrived, they discovered that an Oak Park Police Detective had been shot on the left side of his torso.
The officer, identified as 40-year-old Detective Allan Reddins, was immediately transported to Loyola University Medical Center in critical condition.
Despite medical efforts, Reddins was pronounced dead at 10:10 a.m.
According to officials, the incident began moments earlier when the suspect was seen leaving a bank on Lake Street armed with a gun. This prompted the initial police response, culminating in an exchange of gunfire.
The suspect, who was shot in the leg during the confrontation, was apprehended at the scene and is now receiving treatment at Loyola Hospital.
Detective Allan Reddins, a resident of Chicago, joined the Oak Park Police Department in May 2019. Known for his dedication and professionalism, Reddins was described as a highly respected member of the department. His death marks a profound loss for his colleagues and the community he served.
“The Village of Oak Park extends its deepest condolences to Detective Reddins’ family, friends, and colleagues within the Oak Park Police Department and the wider law enforcement community as they process the grief caused by this senseless violence,” a spokesperson for the village said in a statement.
The suspect remains in custody, but authorities have not yet released details regarding the charges or the sequence of events leading to the fatal shooting. Investigators continue to gather evidence and encourage anyone with information to come forward.

Waterloo Police Arrest Suspect in Fatal Shooting Outside Ryder Logistics

WATERLOO, IA – A fatal shooting at Ryder Logistics on Northeast Drive Wednesday night has left one man dead and another in custody, according to the Waterloo Police Department.
Authorities identified the victim as 33-year-old Dipree Devante Jones of Waterloo. Police have arrested 21-year-old Martavious Jqualin Reed, also of Waterloo, on a first-degree murder charge.
He is currently being held without bond pending his initial court appearance.
According to investigators, Reed approached Jones in the Ryder Logistics parking lot just before 10 p.m. and pulled out a firearm, opening fire on the victim.
Court records indicate that Jones attempted to flee, but Reed pursued him and continued the attack.
Witnesses at the scene intervened and were able to briefly restrain Reed, but he broke free and fled on foot.
Waterloo Police officers arrived shortly after the shooting and immediately rendered aid to Jones until paramedics from Waterloo Fire Rescue arrived.
Jones was transported to UnityPoint Health-Allen Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Authorities launched a search for Reed, who was taken into custody at approximately 10:45 p.m. after officers located him emerging from a field near the crime scene.
The Waterloo Police Department, along with forensic specialists, remains on-site collecting evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.
