2-Year-Old Boy Dies in Frankfort Home, Mother Corie Walsh Found Attempting to Harm Herself
FRANKFORT, Ill. — A 2-year-old boy died Tuesday after being found unresponsive inside a home in Frankfort, Illinois, while his mother was also found attempting to harm herself, according to local authorities.
Frankfort police officers responded to a residence in the 22700 block of Brook Stone Court at approximately 4:04 p.m. on September 1, 2026, following a report of an unresponsive child.
When officers arrived, they found the 2-year-old boy receiving CPR. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police also found the child’s mother inside the residence attempting to harm herself, authorities said. She was taken to a hospital for treatment and was reportedly in non-life-threatening condition.
The mother has been identified in media reports as Corie Walsh, while her husband has been identified as Michael Walsh. Authorities had not publicly released the names of the family members or formally identified the child at the time of the initial investigation.
Frankfort Police Chief Leanne Chelepis said Wednesday morning that the preliminary investigation indicates the child’s death was a “domestic-related homicide.”
However, authorities have not publicly disclosed how the child died, who is believed to be responsible, or what specifically occurred inside the residence.
Police also have not announced any criminal charges in connection with the child’s death.
Investigators remained at the home for several hours Tuesday evening and into the overnight hours as they worked to collect evidence and establish what happened.
The Frankfort Fire Protection District reportedly transported five people from the residence, although authorities have not provided details about the identities of the other individuals or explained why they were taken to medical facilities.
Police have not released additional information about the circumstances surrounding those transports.
The investigation remains active as detectives work to determine the events that led to the child’s death. Authorities are expected to release additional information when it can be confirmed and when investigators determine that doing so will not interfere with the case.

14-Year-Old Middleton High School Student Carson Chrapkowski Dies After Bicycle Crash, Driver Alyssa Anderson Arrested
MIDDLETON, Idaho — A 14-year-old Middleton High School student has died after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle near the high school Friday night, according to the Middleton Police Department.
The teenager was transported by Life Flight to St. Luke’s Boise following the crash but died from his injuries early Saturday morning.
Middleton police said the crash involved a vehicle and a bicyclist near Middleton High School. The 14-year-old suffered critical injuries and was flown to a Boise hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Police announced Saturday morning that the young bicyclist had succumbed to his injuries.
The teen was identified in the information provided for this report as Carson Chrapkowski, a Middleton High School student. However, the police department’s public statement did not release the teenager’s name.
Police arrested 41-year-old Alyssa Louise Anderson in connection with the crash. Anderson was booked into the Canyon County Jail.
According to police, Anderson is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter, aggravated DUI and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the collision or the specific allegations supporting the DUI charge.
The crash remains under investigation by the Middleton Police Department and Idaho State Police. Investigators have not released further information about the sequence of events or whether additional charges could be filed.
