Los Angeles — Film director and actor Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner, were found deceased Sunday afternoon inside their residence on Chadbourne Avenue in Brentwood, according to multiple law enforcement sources familiar with the investigation.

Authorities responding to the scene discovered two adults inside the home. Law enforcement sources say the victims sustained lacerations consistent with injuries caused by a sharp object, prompting the Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division to take over the case. The investigation remains active, and officials have not yet released a formal statement confirming the cause or manner of death.

Emergency responders were called to the residence earlier in the afternoon. Upon confirming the deaths, LAPD officers secured the property and initiated a full forensic examination. As of this reporting, no arrests have been announced, and investigators have not disclosed whether a suspect has been identified.

Rob Reiner, 78, was a towering figure in American film and television, the son of legendary comedian Carl Reiner, who died in 2020. He began his career in the 1960s as a comedy writer, including work on The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour. Reiner rose to national fame in the 1970s portraying Michael “Meathead” Stivic on the landmark sitcom All in the Family, earning two Primetime Emmy Awards during the show’s run.

After the series concluded in 1979, Reiner transitioned to directing, launching a celebrated film career with This Is Spinal Tap. He went on to direct a string of acclaimed and culturally influential films, including Stand By Me, The Princess Bride, When Harry Met Sally…, Misery, A Few Good Men, The American President, and The Bucket List. His work spanned genres and generations, cementing his reputation as one of Hollywood’s most versatile directors.
