Suspect Lacey Cushman Taken Into Custody Following Statewide Manhunt
Authorities in South Carolina have confirmed that a suspect is now in custody following a late-night shooting that left a law enforcement officer injured in Barnwell County.
According to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED), the incident occurred Monday evening around 10:35 p.m. in the area of Gardenia Road in Blackville.
Initial reports indicated that an officer had been shot, prompting the issuance of a statewide Blue Alert for an armed and dangerous suspect.
Subsequent updates clarified that the injured officer is the Chief of the Springfield Police Department.
Officials have reported that the chief sustained a gunshot wound but is currently in stable condition.
The suspect was identified as 37-year-old Lacey Cushman.
Authorities described her as a white female, approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing around 210 pounds, with brown eyes.

Following the shooting, SLED issued a โBe On the Lookoutโ (BOLO) alert, advising that Cushman was believed to be traveling in a 2011 white Chevrolet Traverse bearing South Carolina license plate 706IRU. Her last known direction of travel was toward Bamberg County.
Law enforcement agencies across the region launched a coordinated manhunt in response to the alert. Later developments confirmed that Cushman has since been taken into custody.

14-Year-Old Middleton High School Student Carson Chrapkowski Dies After Bicycle Crash, Driver Alyssa Anderson Arrested
MIDDLETON, Idaho โ A 14-year-old Middleton High School student has died after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle near the high school Friday night, according to the Middleton Police Department.
The teenager was transported by Life Flight to St. Lukeโs Boise following the crash but died from his injuries early Saturday morning.
Middleton police said the crash involved a vehicle and a bicyclist near Middleton High School. The 14-year-old suffered critical injuries and was flown to a Boise hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Police announced Saturday morning that the young bicyclist had succumbed to his injuries.
The teen was identified in the information provided for this report as Carson Chrapkowski, a Middleton High School student. However, the police departmentโs public statement did not release the teenagerโs name.
Police arrested 41-year-old Alyssa Louise Anderson in connection with the crash. Anderson was booked into the Canyon County Jail.
According to police, Anderson is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter, aggravated DUI and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
