Manhunt underway for armed murder suspect Damian Strozier near I-75 after shooting involving Cobb County officer
Authorities in Cobb County, Georgia, have launched an extensive manhunt for an armed suspect wanted in connection with a murder investigation after an officer-involved shooting Tuesday afternoon near Interstate 75.
According to the Cobb County Police Department, officers were actively searching for a suspect with an outstanding murder warrant in the area of Leland Drive and Windy Hill Road, just off I-75, at approximately 1:00 p.m.
During the operation, officers located the individual, later identified as 31-year-old Damian Strozier.
Police reported that during the encounter, Strozier allegedly pointed a handgun at one of the officers. In response, the officer discharged their weapon. The suspect was not apprehended at the scene and fled on foot. No law enforcement personnel were injured during the incident.
Strozier is described as approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing around 135 pounds, with brown eyes. He is currently wanted by the Atlanta Police Department in connection with a murder case.
Following the incident, a significant law enforcement presence was established in the surrounding area as officers, including specialized units, began an intensive search operation. A SWAT team was deployed to the nearby Belmont Place apartment complex, where officers are conducting searches and securing the area. Authorities have also been stopping and inspecting vehicles leaving Leland Drive as part of the investigation.
Search efforts appear to be concentrated around the wooded areas near Rottenwood Creek, located behind the apartment complex, as officers continue to track the suspectโs possible movements.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation has confirmed it is assisting local authorities in the ongoing search.
Officials are urging residents and motorists to avoid the area and use alternate routes while the situation remains active.
The suspect is considered armed and dangerous, and anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is encouraged to contact law enforcement immediately.

14-Year-Old Middleton High School Student Carson Chrapkowski Dies After Bicycle Crash, Driver Alyssa Anderson Arrested
MIDDLETON, Idaho โ A 14-year-old Middleton High School student has died after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle near the high school Friday night, according to the Middleton Police Department.
The teenager was transported by Life Flight to St. Lukeโs Boise following the crash but died from his injuries early Saturday morning.
Middleton police said the crash involved a vehicle and a bicyclist near Middleton High School. The 14-year-old suffered critical injuries and was flown to a Boise hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Police announced Saturday morning that the young bicyclist had succumbed to his injuries.
The teen was identified in the information provided for this report as Carson Chrapkowski, a Middleton High School student. However, the police departmentโs public statement did not release the teenagerโs name.
Police arrested 41-year-old Alyssa Louise Anderson in connection with the crash. Anderson was booked into the Canyon County Jail.
According to police, Anderson is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter, aggravated DUI and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the collision or the specific allegations supporting the DUI charge.
