Victim Killed in Shooting at Birmingham Greyhound station Identified as Angelo Herbert Hill Jr
BIRMINGHAM, Alabama — A Sunday afternoon altercation at the downtown Greyhound Intermodal Facility ended in a fatal shooting, leaving one man dead and prompting an ongoing homicide investigation, according to the Birmingham Police Department.
Police responded just before 5 p.m. to reports of a shooting at the bus station located in the 1801 block of Morris Avenue.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim has been identified by the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office as Angelo Herbert Hill Jr., 46, of Valdosta.
According to Officer De’Rell Freeman, Hill was found unresponsive at the scene after being shot by a security guard.
He was transported to UAB Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 5:40 p.m.
Preliminary findings indicate that Hill and another individual were involved in a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical confrontation.
During the altercation, a security guard intervened and discharged a firearm, fatally striking Hill.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether either of the individuals involved in the fight were armed at the time of the incident.
Police confirmed that the security guard—who is a contract employee and not directly employed by Greyhound—remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators.
The guard is currently being interviewed by homicide detectives as part of the ongoing inquiry.
“It is such a tragedy that someone loses their life at the bus station, but we will do everything we can to investigate and determine exactly what happened,” Freeman said.
The Birmingham Police Department continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting, including reviewing surveillance footage, witness statements, and use-of-force protocols.
Officials urge anyone with additional information about the incident to contact local authorities as the investigation remains active.

14-Year-Old Middleton High School Student Carson Chrapkowski Dies After Bicycle Crash, Driver Alyssa Anderson Arrested
MIDDLETON, Idaho — A 14-year-old Middleton High School student has died after being struck by a vehicle while riding his bicycle near the high school Friday night, according to the Middleton Police Department.
The teenager was transported by Life Flight to St. Luke’s Boise following the crash but died from his injuries early Saturday morning.
Middleton police said the crash involved a vehicle and a bicyclist near Middleton High School. The 14-year-old suffered critical injuries and was flown to a Boise hospital for emergency medical treatment.
Police announced Saturday morning that the young bicyclist had succumbed to his injuries.
The teen was identified in the information provided for this report as Carson Chrapkowski, a Middleton High School student. However, the police department’s public statement did not release the teenager’s name.
Police arrested 41-year-old Alyssa Louise Anderson in connection with the crash. Anderson was booked into the Canyon County Jail.
According to police, Anderson is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter, aggravated DUI and leaving the scene of an injury accident.
Authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances leading up to the collision or the specific allegations supporting the DUI charge.
The crash remains under investigation by the Middleton Police Department and Idaho State Police. Investigators have not released further information about the sequence of events or whether additional charges could be filed.
Police said they are continuing to work to establish the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
The Middleton Police Department expressed condolences to the teenager’s parents, family, friends, classmates and others affected by his death as the community mourns the loss of a young student.
