21-Year-Old Luke Quentin Palacios Dies After Dirt Bike Crash in Midland
A 21-year-old man has died following a crash involving a dirt bike and an SUV Wednesday night in Midland, according to the Midland Police Department.
Authorities identified the victim as Luke Quentin Palacios.
Police said officers responded at approximately 10:42 p.m. on May 13, 2026, to a reported collision involving a motor vehicle and motorcycle at the intersection of Raymond Street and Cedar Springs Drive.
When officers and emergency medical personnel arrived at the scene, they located a non-street-legal 2023 Yamaha YZ250FX dirt bike lying in the intersection.
Investigators also found a heavily damaged 2006 Nissan Murano west of the crash site.
Emergency responders discovered Palacios lying next to the motorcycle suffering from life-threatening injuries.
According to the Midland Police Department, Palacios was transported to Midland Memorial Hospital for emergency treatment.
Despite lifesaving efforts by medical staff, he later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.
Preliminary findings from investigators indicate Palacios was traveling southbound on Raymond Street at a high rate of speed shortly before the collision occurred.
Police said the Nissan Murano was traveling westbound on Howard Street and had reportedly stopped at a posted stop sign before proceeding through the intersection and crossing Raymond Street toward the 3700 block of Cedar Springs Drive.
Investigators believe Palacios then struck the passenger side of the SUV during the collision.
Authorities have not released additional details regarding the driver of the Nissan Murano or whether any citations or charges are expected as the investigation continues.
The crash remains under active investigation by the Midland Police Department. Officials confirmed that next of kin have been notified following the fatal crash.

Train Derails in Ferguson Involving Vehicles, Hazmat Team Called Over Ethyl Alcohol Rail Car
FERGUSON, Mo. โ A train derailment involving vehicles prompted an emergency response in Ferguson on Ferguson Avenue, where authorities requested a hazardous materials team after determining that one of the train cars contained ethyl alcohol.
Emergency units were dispatched to 617 Ferguson Avenue after reports of the rail incident. Responders found a train that had derailed with vehicles involved.
Officials confirmed there was no reported entrapment. Crews were checking the scene for injuries and evaluating those involved in the incident.
A Hazmat response was requested because one rail car involved in the derailment was carrying ethyl alcohol. Emergency crews were assessing the rail car for any potential leak or hazardous condition and working to secure the area.
The presence of ethyl alcohol prompted additional safety precautions while responders examined the derailed train and surrounding vehicles.
At this time, authorities have not released details about possible injuries, the cause of the derailment or the extent of damage.
