Captain Jeff Gregory Identified in Deadly Florida Learjet Crash That Reportedly Killed Nine
GREENACRES, Fla. — The captain of a Learjet 60 that crashed in a residential area of Palm Beach County has been identified in reports as Jeff Gregory, 55.
The November 1, 2026, crash reportedly killed all nine people aboard the aircraft, including Gregory and co-pilot Nathalia Gadelha, 20.

The jet was traveling from Austin, Texas, to North Eleuthera in the Bahamas when it crashed near Greenacres, Florida. The seven passengers reportedly included a Texas family of four, their nanny, and two friends.
Among those identified in reports was Adam Robinson, 44, an Austin technology entrepreneur, who was traveling with his wife, Helen Sharp, their two children and nanny.

Relatives confirmed the family was aboard the aircraft. The children’s grandfather described the loss as devastating, saying the family had lost his daughter, her husband, and two grandchildren.

The names of the children and the remaining passengers had not been publicly disclosed in the reporting reviewed.
Information attributed to a National Transportation Safety Board news conference indicates that the flight crew contacted air traffic control shortly before the crash to report ice accumulation and moderate turbulence.
The aircraft was reportedly cruising at approximately 35,000 feet when the pilots requested permission to climb to 37,000 feet. The jet later began a rapid descent.
According to accounts of the final radio communications, co-pilot Filgueiras reported that the aircraft was descending at about 10,000 feet per minute. The descent rate reportedly increased to more than 20,000 feet per minute, and the aircraft entered an overspeed condition.
A male voice, believed in reports to be Gregory, was reportedly heard reciting the Lord’s Prayer. The final transmission was reported to include the words, “We’re out of time.” These details have not been independently verified here.
The Learjet reportedly crashed at approximately 12:50 p.m. near Military Trail and 10th Avenue North in Greenacres. The impact sparked a large fire and scattered wreckage across the neighborhood, with reports describing a crater near a mobile home community.
The crash also reportedly damaged electrical infrastructure and led to the evacuation of hundreds of nearby residents as emergency crews responded and worked to secure the scene.
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash. Investigators are examining the aircraft’s final flight path, weather conditions, air traffic control communications, and recovered wreckage.
Although the crew reportedly described icing and turbulence before the crash, investigators have not established whether either condition caused or contributed to the aircraft’s loss of control. The cause remains under investigation.
