22-year-old Melique Etienne Killed in Suspected Robbery on Cathedral Drive in Baton Rouge
BATON ROUGE, La. — Baton Rouge Police have identified the victim of a fatal shooting that occurred Tuesday evening in what authorities believe was a robbery attempt.
The victim, 22-year-old Melique Etienne, was found with multiple gunshot wounds in the 3700 block of Cathedral Drive, near Wyandotte Street, shortly before 6:30 p.m.
Emergency responders arrived on scene and rendered aid; however, Etienne was pronounced dead shortly thereafter due to the severity of his injuries.
According to preliminary findings from the Baton Rouge Police Department (BRPD), investigators believe Etienne was shot during an attempted robbery.
BRPD Chief T.J. Morse confirmed that several individuals were detained at the scene in connection with the incident.
However, as of Wednesday morning, no formal arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.

Authorities have released a significant update regarding the AMBER Alert issued in Austin, Texas.
Law enforcement officials confirm that the suspect connected to the case has been located, and the red 2017 Ford Mustang believed to have been involved has been recovered.
However, 12-year-old Jazzlyn Anzora remains missing.
