15-year-old Deondre Davis charged with the murder of 12-year-old Marquell Newburn
Milwaukee – A 15-year-old boy, Deondre Davis, has been charged as an adult with first-degree reckless homicide in connection with the fatal shooting of 12-year-old Marquell Newburn.
The shooting occurred on Saturday afternoon near 48th and Clarke Streets.
Newburn was found unresponsive at the scene and later pronounced dead at a local hospital.
According to police, Davis was handling a firearm inside a stolen minivan when it accidentally discharged, striking Newburn.
A witness reported that Newburn had warned Davis to stop playing with the gun, but Davis disregarded the warning.
Davis has been charged with a Class B felony, which carries a potential prison sentence of up to 60 years.
The sentence may be extended by an additional five years due to the use of a dangerous weapon during the crime.

Video shows moments Lauren Martin shot and killed by Savon Tyler
Sanford, FL (November 06, 2024): Sanford Police have arrested Savon Chantay Tyler (D.O.B. 08/16/1989), in connection with last night’s homicide that occurred in Greystone Townhomes.
On November 05, 2024, just after 7:00 P.M., Sanford Police officers responded to a shooting in the area of 1771 Travertine Terrace.
Upon arrival, officers located Lauren Ashley Martin (D.O.B. 03/29/1990), laying in the roadway, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Lauren was transported to a local area hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.
Based on the investigation, it was determined that Lauren drove to Tyler’s residence regarding an ongoing argument.
Both Lauren and Tyler engaged in a verbal altercation, which then escalated to a physical altercation.
During the altercation, Tyler shot Lauren multiple times.
Investigators are aware that this incident was live streamed on social media and they are in possession of the live stream videos.
Savon Chantay Tyler was taken into custody without incident.
She will be charged with one count of First Degree Homicide.
This was an isolated incident and there is no one at large related to this situation.
Regarding the incident, Chief Cecil Smith stated, “Today, a family is mourning the loss of a loved one, because someone chose to resolve a disagreement with violence. What started the argument between these two won’t be remembered, but the loss of Lauren will forever be with her family and friends. There are choices other than violence.”
