Florida State University shooting suspect identified and in custody

Florida State University (FSU) in Tallahassee was placed on lockdown Tuesday following an active shooter situation that left six people injured—one critically—according to law enforcement officials.
A suspect has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
The shooting occurred near the FSU Student Union, prompting an immediate emergency response from campus and city police.
The university issued an urgent alert advising students and staff to seek shelter, lock all doors, and stay away from windows. “Police are on scene or on the way.
Lock and stay away from all doors and windows and be prepared to take additional protective measures,” the university’s alert stated.
In the aftermath of the shooting, disturbing video footage circulated on social media showing a victim with a gunshot wound lying outside one of the campus buildings.
Emergency medical teams quickly responded, and at least four of the injured individuals were transported to local hospitals.
Authorities later confirmed the total number of victims as six.
According to two law enforcement sources with direct knowledge of the situation, the suspect was found in possession of a handgun at the time of his arrest.
A shotgun was also recovered from inside the Student Union, and another firearm was discovered in the suspect’s vehicle.
As a precaution, FSU canceled all classes and events for the remainder of the day.
The university also urged anyone not already on the main campus to avoid the area. “Individuals not already on the main campus at this time should avoid coming to the Tallahassee main campus,” FSU posted on its emergency advisory website.
Local and federal law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the incident, and additional updates are expected as more information becomes available.
