A 17-year-old has been arrested in Natchez in connection with the fatal shooting of a woman. The incident occurred just after 1:30 PM on Sunday, September 8th, in the 1100 block of George F. West Boulevard.

The victim, 31-year-old Dambrelle Thomas, was pronounced deceased at the scene after being shot in the upper chest and arms.

According to Natchez Police Commander Jerry Ford, a prior altercation had taken place between the 17-year-old and a man at the residence.

Following the dispute, the teenager left the home, returned with a shotgun, and fired the weapon inside the residence.

Authorities said the suspect then barricaded himself in the old Thompson school before surrendering to police.

The teenager’s identity has not been released, and they are expected to be charged as an adult.

A major police incident unfolded in Baltimore on Park Heights Avenue Sunday as officers responded to a rapidly escalating situation that involved gunfire, an officer being wounded, and a reported hostage scenario.

According to emergency radio traffic from the Baltimore Police Department, a “Signal 13” officer-down alert was transmitted after shots were fired in the 6200 block of Park Heights Avenue, near the intersection with Pinkney Road.

The location is in close proximity to the Agudath Israel of Baltimore synagogue.

Initial reports indicated officers had been responding to a possible hostage situation when the encounter turned violent.

During the incident, two officers were reported pinned down, and one officer was struck by gunfire.

Authorities said the wounded officer sustained a gunshot wound to the leg but was awake and conscious following the shooting.

Fellow officers transported the injured officer to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center for treatment.

Radio communications indicated the suspect continued firing at responding officers, prompting the deployment of specialized tactical units.

A SWAT BearCat armored vehicle was dispatched to assist officers as they attempted to contain the suspect and secure the area.

The situation escalated into a confirmed hostage scenario, with officers reporting that the suspect was holding a firearm to a female victim’s head.

Additional radio reports later indicated that the hostage was the suspect’s grandmother.

Authorities said the hostage was ultimately reported safe, though details about how she was secured have not yet been officially confirmed.
